Do you ever wish you were in the room when magic happens? When Beethoven wrote his symphonies. When Shakespeare penned his classics. When Cher sings anything. Well—now’s your chance (kinda).
Brace yourself for my female Book of Mormon. I can’t sing or play music, but I did grow up on Sister Act 1 & 2, so I do know a hit when I see one.
This is a work-in-progress, for an epic, one-woman show.
Hi, I’m Luisa. I’m a comedian from London with an idea for a musical—one that’s all about Mary Magdalene. It’s about love, community, orgasms, and how billionaires ruin everything… but with singalongs.
God Is a Woman is a bold, hilarious, and moving one-woman musical reimagining the story of Mary Magdalene. It blends stand-up, storytelling, and live music (kinda) to retell history through a woman’s eyes.
Mary Magdalene was never a “prostitute”. Sure she enjoyed sex, who doesn’t? It’s good for your health, but she never got paid for it. (even though she would have made a fortune on only fans) She was a teacher, a lover, a leader, a revolutionary. We’ve only ever known her through the male lens.
Imagine how different the world would look if we let women translate the Bible.
A powerhouse feminist performance—ancient yet radically relevant, familiar and yet original. Think a Female Book of Mormon / Hamilton / Sister Act… but before a producer got involved.
The show has been workshopped in the U.K., developed further in Austin, Texas, and is now in Los Angeles, seeking investment for a full-scale theatrical run.
God Is a Woman isn’t just a musical—it’s a revolution, and it’s being built by community.
